FEATURED PIT ON THE MONTH

The Pigs Gone Wild Barbeque Team rolled out this custom made pit for the first time at the “Smoke and Fire Barbeque Competition” in 2006.  This custom made pit was designed and fabricated by American Iron and Steel Mfg. Company located at
5601 Manchester Rd. in St. Louis, MO.

We contacted American Iron and gave them some ideas and similar pictures which we had in mind for the pit.  They did the rest.  It turned out nicer then we could have ever imagined.

Our unique features of the pit are it has two independent smoke / grill chambers with two independent smoker boxes.  It has charcoal boxes on each side for grilling that will adjust up and down to the stainless steel grates.  It has dual removable smoke stacks (so it will fit in your garage).  You can simultaneously smoke on both sides at different temperatures or you can grill on one side while smoking on the other. Also, you can use only one side with out having to fire up the whole pit.  The smoke boxes have a bottom slide out tray to remove the ash with stationary grates to retain your charcoal.  This gives you the option to clean out the ash while the pit is in use if needed.  You can add charcoal or wood from the top or side of the smoke box along with the feature that each smoke box has it's own
a rear damper. It has counter balance weights to help in lifting the steel doors. The approximate weight of the pit and trailer is 2400 pounds.

We have enjoyed using this pit in our competitions and are pleased to share our custom pit with all of you in this month’s newsletter.
Hope to see you this year at some competitions.
